Summer Camps in 2020

Camp will be a bit different. The team at Camp Gideon has been working hard to make sure our site is prepared for the summer season!  Camp Gideon will follow plans as suggested by the CDC (United States Center for Disease Control).  We all have fond memories of long summer days at camp. We played tag, shared our drinks and would sweat non-stop. Kids will still create special memories but things will look a little different this year.

Prevention begins before campers arrive at camp.
  • Each camper, volunteer and staff member should arrive well rested, nourished and hydrated. The goal is for individuals to arrive as resilient as possible.
  • If a family member or camper has signs or  symptoms of illness they should stay at home. Do Not come to camp.
  • As campers show up for registration at camp, they will be screened for signs and symptoms of illness., Anyone exhibiting signs of illness will be sent home, that includes staff, volunteers and campers
  • Temperature check for all staff, volunteers and campers will be performed each morning upon arrival
  • Hands will be sanitized before campers join their group
  • Camp Gideon reserves the right to refuse admittance to the campsite for anyone showing signs or symptoms of illness.
  • Parents are required to remain in their car during drop off and pick ups
  • Utilizing contactless forms of check-in and check-out (parents must have carpool pick up tag)

Following these guidelines at camp will help us stay healthy:
  • Appropriate hand washing for at least 20 seconds with an anti-bacterial hand soap, which is available in every camp bathroom.
  • Use of hand sanitizer throughout the day and before and after every meal (provided by camp).
  • Cough/sneeze “into your sleeve.” Covering coughs/sneezes with one’s hands is no longer desired behavior; bury coughs/sneezes in one’s shoulder.
  • Refrain from touching your face with your hands,
  • Refrain from sharing drinks with each other. We recommend campers bring their own personal water bottle; no sharing, even “to be nice.”
  • Campers are required to bring own lunches and snacks in sealed bags with their names written on their belongings - then placed in designated area for each camper (Day Camps Only)
  • Routine Cleaning: we will be cleaning frequently touched surfaces, objects and shared equipment, such as bathrooms, meeting rooms, archery gear, fishing poles, playgrounds, etc., between each use.  ·
  • Camp nurse will be isolating people with questionable symptoms until communicable illness can be ruled out
  • All will be instructed to limit contact with others and use elbow bumps in place of hand shaking, high fives, etc. Teaching campers the “helicopter” method of social distancing.
  • We will maintain teams of no more than 15 campers with social distancing from other teams
